Continuing Medical Education or CME involves the awarding of credits for attendance and completion of coursework related to a medical professional's practice. A minimum number of such credits are required by certifying or licensing authorities to continue professional certification/licensure.

CME programs must meet certain minimum requirements in terms of the content subject matter and quality they provide, the evaluations they perform and the records they maintain regarding attendance.
